Weekly Highlight #1 - CHICKEN PROCESSING - WILD ROOTS FAMILY FARM

Wild Roots Family Farm offers poultry processing services by appointment from late April through the end of October. Appointments can book two to three weeks out during busy times, so early scheduling is recommended. Wild Roots processes Cornish Cross and Freedom Ranger chickens, as well as turkeys, with whole-bird or parted-out options available. They do not process layers or dual-purpose breeds.

Hamel’s Farm Market & Nursery offers a wide selection of hanging baskets and plants from the smallest blooms to the boldest colors, with thousands of options to choose from. Hamel’s also hosts a seasonal market during summer weekends featuring a variety of local vendors, making it a great stop for fresh goods and unique finds alongside their nursery offerings.

Weekly Highlight #3 - WOOL AND FIBER PROCESSING - THE WOOLSTEAD CO.

We are a Michigan-based, small-scale fiber mill designed to serve farmers and growers by transforming locally grown fiber into high-quality yarns and roving. We are passionate about preserving traditional skills, strengthening rural economies, and honoring the land, animals, and people behind every strand.

Our mill is currently set to open in 2026 just north of Grand Rapids.

What they offer: Custom Processed yarn/roving for most sheep breeds, alpaca, and more! We also offer individual services (washing, picking, rolling bumps of roving, pin draft roving, dehairing) and in person classes/workshops!
